Youth and adults learned to swim and stay safe in the water at the ninth annual Splish Splash Swim Event.
The free session was staged by the Vivian Stancil Olympian Foundation, at Riverside City College’s Cutter Pool on Saturday, June 24. The event aimed to educate the public about water safety and reduce drowning deaths and injuries.
“Children under 5 and the elderly have the highest rate of fatal drownings in California, with most deaths and injuries occurring in backyard pools,” Stancil said in a news release.
Kids and adults learned how to float and enjoyed free lunches and vendor booths.
