More than 1,000 foster and homeless youths found themselves in a Winter Wonderland on Saturday, Dec. 9.
Using lighting, music and seasonal activities, the event gave the students a festive evening.
Staged at Harvest Christian Fellowship, the event was the second organized this month by the Riverside County Office of Education, which held one last week in the desert.
Youths and their families enjoyed a meal, photo booths, crafts, a tree lighting, snow for sledding and even ice skating. Each student also walked away with a gift.
“The Winter Wonderland events are a way for all students in multiple regions of our county to have something to look forward to this holiday season,” Riverside County Superintendent of Schools Edwin Gomez said in a news release. “These events represent an opportunity to wrap our community’s collective arms around students who are deserving of positive reinforcement, loving kindness, and a fresh reminder of the importance of hope for the future.”
