What to know
- Nothing Phone 3 may get a new solid-state capacitive button on the right side of the device.
- The new button could be similar in function to the Action button on iPhone, which is used to customize settings and perform specific actions like opening an app.
Nothing has reportedly started working on its next big release, the Nothing Phone 3. Getting a head start on the leaks, CEO and co-founder Carl Pei recently shared images on X that revealed big upcoming changes to its smartphone lineup.

While Pei cheekily focused on the design of the Quick Settings menu, it was the sight of a new button on the right (under the Power button) that has caught everyone’s attention.
Although it is unclear what exactly the new button will do, some speculate it to function similarly to the iPhone’s Action button, which can be customized for actions that one performs frequently, such as launching an app or turning a setting on or off. It could also be a quicker way to trigger AI chatbots, like ChatGPT, which Nothing has already integrated in Nothing OS and earbuds.
Nothing Phone 3 is also speculated to have the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip. Stay tuned for further updates on Nothing’s next big release.
