10 locals in need of transportation receive cars

MileOne Autogroup and the nonprofit organization Vehicles for Change presented cars to 10 local individuals as part of Vehicles for Change’s affordable car ownership program.

Recipients include parents – several of whom are single parents – students, and workers from across Maryland. Stated plans for the vehicles mainly comprised of the newfound ability to advance careers and spend more time with family.

“I’m so grateful because, with this blessing I’ve received, this job is enough for me to tell my wife ‘you don’t have to work no more,'” exclaimed Antonio Johnson, a father of four from Baltimore and one of the recipients of a car. “No more $50 Uber rides to work!”

Since partnering with Vehicles for Change in 2017, MileOne Autogroup and its corporate giving program, MileOneCares, have donated more than 200 vehicles—valued at more than $1.5 million—to families in need of transportation.

“It means everything to me,” recipient Calvin Freeman said. “I can get to places on time, I can see my family members, and also get to work on time and not rely on public transportation.”
