Watch moment explorer unearths collection of abandoned cars outside derelict house… including Grand Tour favourite

AN URBAN explorer has unearthed an incredible collection of abandoned cars outside a derelict house.

YouTube star Colin Hodson, better known as The Bearded Explorer, recently posted a video of him and his friend searching through the grounds of a derelict house.

Among the discoveries is a classic Volkswagen Golf, a seldom seen Renault van and even a classic Triumph sports car – which has recently become a UK favourite after its appearance in the final episode of the Grand Tour.

In the opening minutes of the video, Colin comes across a Mk4 VW Golf that looks a little worse for wear.

The famous hatchback, which was released in its fourth-gen spec between 1998 and 2003, was seemingly having some repair work done to it before it was left dumped.

Commenting on the motor, Colin said: “You know what, these are actually really, really good cars, very reliable for what they are and actually they don’t return a bad miles per gallon, either.”

An estate version of the Golf, which Colin reveals to be “actually quite rare”, is then found parked just a few metres away next to an old Renault Trafic van.

Further into the grounds of the house, Colin is shocked to find an iconic British classic that’s recently become one of the UK’s must-have motors.

The Triumph Stag, built between 1970 and 1978, was a hugely popular set of wheels and remains a favourite among enthusiasts today – not least because it was James May’s car of choice in the recent and final Grand Tour episode.

In recent weeks, AutoTrader has reported that adverts for second-hand Stags have seen a 793% bump in views following the special.

Unsure if it is indeed a Stag or the similar-looking Spitfire model, Colin describes it as a “lovely little car” all the same – although he quickly finds that an animal has built some kind of nest inside it.

Deeper into an overgrown area filled with stinging nettles, Colin finds a Mk2 VW Golf – a hot hatchback that’s widely considered a collectible in 2024.

Found with over 115,000 miles on the clock and with an interior covered in mould, Colin is surprised at how well kept its bodywork still is – despite having “seen better days”.

Colin has become a well-known figure on YouTube for his exploration videos – with a barn-find discovery back in August surely one of his most incredible.

While wandering through an old farmyard, Colin manages to open the doors to a huge barn packed full of rare, classic sports cars.

Among the motors inside is a Porsche 911, a classic Maserati, and even a Ferrari 250 GTO, which later turns out to be just a very convincing replica.

He also discovers an eerie abandoned mansion where a supercar sits deserted and gathering dust.
