Bengaluru: A Redditor shared an account of how they foiled a scam while receiving an iPhone 15 their sister ordered during Flipkart’s Big Billion Days Sale.
A woman in Bengaluru ordered the 256 GB variant of iPhone 15 during Flipkart’s Big Billion Days Sale and opted for an Open Box Delivery (OBD) to ensure transparency. However, when the “delivery boy” arrived, he refused to open the box before marking it delivered. He even attempted to hand over a “big parcel” to the customer. When the woman’s sibling, who was recording the entire incident on video, denied accepting the order without opening the package and checking its content, another “delivery agent” showed up at the doorstep with a “very small package”. “Flipkart scammers beware,” reads the title of the Reddit post. The Redditor, who goes by “taau_47”, wrote, “My sister brought an iPhone 15 with VIP on Flipkart sale, it was an open box delivery.”
In the next few lines, the woman’s sibling detailed that the ‘delivery agent’ tried to scam them: “This loser came with a big package to deliver claiming that he couldn’t do an open box. We have to accept like as is.”
“I refused. He called some random people. They said there is no facility like that. He was scared shitless because I recorded all this. He told his partners in crime in Kannada that I have recorded everything and all,” he added.
“taau_47” claimed, “I did not accept the package.”
“Within two minutes, another guy came to deliver a very small package and said that he would do the open box,” the Reddit user further added.
The Redditor concluded, “We got the product because I recorded. Otherwise, I am sure he would have given me some random package.”
