Step-By-Step Guide to Fix the “Bluesky Not Loading” Issue

What to know

  • Bluesky users have been experiencing issues with the app not loading on their devices.
  • The disruption has come about because of the recent surge in users on the platform, leading to server issues.
  • In most cases, you won’t need to do anything. Simply wait for the Bluesky dev team to fix the issue.
  • In the meantime, you can check Bluesky’s service status, ensure you have network connectivity, and try clearing your app and browser cache.

If you haven’t come across a Bluesky error of some sort, consider yourself lucky. Because Bluesky’s servers have been plagued with all sorts of error messages and connection issues. All this can be laid at the feet of the recent migration of users from X (Twitter) to Bluesky. Although it’s been hailed as a cleaner, better moderated alternative, Bluesky has been having quite a number of issues because of the increased user count.

So if you’re experiencing connection issues or if the app isn’t loading pages properly, know that you’re not alone. Users across the globe over the past few days and weeks have been experiencing similar problems. And if that’s the case, here’s what you can do about it.

3 Ways to fix Bluesky not loading issue

There are a few things you can do to fix issues with Bluesky.

1. Wait for Bluesky to resolve the issue

Since Bluesky is having some server side trouble because of the millions of users that are signing up on the platform every few weeks. Because of this, several different errors have cropped up such as the invalid handle error, a ‘pipethrough network’ error, and a not enough resources issue

As is the case with most Bluesky issues, you need to bear with it for a while. And in most cases, Bluesky’s developers will most likely fix the issue and you won’t have to do anything except wait.

You can always check Downdetector and Bluesky’s service status to determine whether or not the site is functional.

2. Clear app or browser cache

If Bluesky hasn’t been loading properly for a while, you might want to clear the app or browser cache, depending on where you’re experiencing the issue. Doing so is quite easy. Go to the Settings app on your phone > find Bluesky > and clear cache.

On the browser, go to the Settings and look for the ‘Clear Browsing Data’ option. Once you’ve cleared these, try accessing Bluesky again

3. Check your network

At the risk of stating the obvious, you should also check if you have access to the internet. Since network issues can look similar to Bluesky’s server-side error, especially when nothing’s loading, it’s worth checking if the problem isn’t at your own end.
