Chico police arrest man, use armored vehicle – Chico Enterprise-Record

Chico police officers used an armored vehicle to arrest a man early Monday morning suspected of making verbal threats, assaulting an older adult and shooting a firearm outside his residence, according to a police department news release.

According to the release, police have been investigating alleged crimes from Chico man Kurtus Locke, 38, who was reported Feb. 25 to having assaulted an older adult.

Then around 10 p.m. Sunday, Chico police dispatch received a report that Locke was outside of his residence, shouting out threats and shooting firearms, and officers responded to the event, “(working) diligently to come up with a plan to attempt to bring Mr. Locke into custody and provide safety to the neighborhood while doing this in a manner which decreased the likelihood of a lethal confrontation,” the report said.

At about 12:45 a.m. Monday, police officers received a report that Locke was banging on a neighbor’s window a few minutes after shooting a firearm.

Officers approached Locke with an armored vehicle, ordered Locke to the ground, and he complied, the report said.

Locke was taken to Butte County Jail on suspicion of elder abuse, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats and discharge of a firearm at an occupied residence.
