LAKE PLACID — Around 300 figure skaters from 16 different intercollegiate figure skating teams from across the country competed at the National Intercollegiate Final in Lake Placid this past weekend.

The competition featured 43 events, including singles, solo dance and team maneuvers, with skaters earning points that contribute to an overall team score. The event was the 25th annual U.S. Figure Skating collegiate skating program and the first time the National Intercollegiate Final will be hosted in Lake Placid.

The University of Delaware won the overall competition with a team score of 303. Last year’s champion Boston University placed second with 273 points and Dartmouth College was third with 226.

Three teams — the University of Washington, Western Michigan University and the University of Pennsylvania — made their event debut this past weekend.
