Youths will get another chance to go fishing — and win prizes — at an event next month.
The San Jacinto Valley’s fall Kids Fishing Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28, at Golden Era Golf Course near San Jacinto, a news release states. The course offers three lakes stocked with bass and catfish.
Children between 6 and 15 years old and their parents can attend, but the free tourney is limited to 300 participants.
Check-in and a pancake breakfast from Hemet Rotary will be from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. The event will end at 11 a.m. Lunch, provided by Hemet Kiwanis Club, and awards will be from 11 a.m. to noon.
Members of the Point Seekers Bass Club will be assisting children. Fishing rods and reels will be available. The tournament also will include a watermelon-eating contest for adults.
Awards will include the grand prize — four tickets to Disneyland for the biggest fish — T-shirts for each childand trophies for the biggest fish in each age category.
The course is at 19871 Gilman Springs Road.
