Funeral procession set for fallen Riverside County deputy – Press Enterprise


A funeral procession from Murrieta to Riverside will be held for Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Brett Harris on Wednesday, June 7.

The 17-mile procession from Miller-Jones Menifee Memorial Park and Mortuary, 26770 Murrieta Road, to The Grove Community Church, 19900 Grove Community Drive. It will begin at 8:45 a.m. and will be open to the public, according to to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department news release.

Following the procession, the funeral service will start at 10 a.m. and is open to the public, Sheriff’s Department spokesperson, Sgt. Deirdre Vickers said. The funeral will be livestreamed on the Riverside County Sheriff’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Here is the procession route:

  • Turn right onto Murrieta Road to Ethanac Road;
  • Turn right onto Ethanac Road and merge onto the northbound 215 Freeway
  • Continue on the 215 to Van Buren Boulevard;
  • Exit at Van Buren Boulevard;
  • Turn left onto Van Buren Boulevard and continue to Orange Terrace Parkway;
  • Turn right onto Orange Terrace Parkway to Abrams Drive;
  • Turn right onto Abrams Drive to Grove Community Drive;
  • Turn left onto Grove Community Drive to Barton Road;.
  • Turn right onto Barton Road into The Grove Community Church

Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Harris, 26, died May 12 after an on-duly car crash where he suffered major injuries, including a brain injury.

Harris was assigned to the Hemet Station and was responding as backup to another deputy’s call when he collided with a Nissan Maxima in a san Jacinto intersection. The driver and a passenger from the second car were hospitalized.
