Twitch’s July numbers show moderate growth, but nothing spectacular as the summer numbers slow down. The primary point of interest on the charts is the increase of viewers for Ibai, thanks largely in part to his big event in Velada.
According to StreamElements latest State of the Stream report and data from analytics partner Rainmaker.gg, viewers watched 1.607 billion hours of content on Twitch in July. Daily watch hours leveled out the same as June at 52 million.
Streamer Ibai Llanos took the number one spot on StreamElement’s list of top 10 Twitch streamers, his first time doing so in 2024. This likely due to his annual influencer boxing event, La Velada del Año, which he held for the fourth time on July 13. The event peaked at 3.85 million concurrent viewers, according to Streams Charts, likely in part because it featured several guests — including Will Smith as a headlining musical performer. StreamElements’ own charts show the “Special Events” category rising to the top spot in July, going up by 15% to 265 million hours watched, which the company attributes to La Velada.
Or Perry, StreamElements CEO, said in a statement, “While Twitch is still hunting for its next big growth driver, one part of the puzzle presented itself in July. Ibai hosted his fourth annual influencer boxing tournament, which set a concurrent viewership record on Twitch and generated nearly three times as many hours as the runner-up streamer. This was right after Kai Cenat partnered with Kevin Hart for a record-setting stream in June. Combining a creative concept with Twitch influencers and Hollywood stars resulted in an effective blueprint that could be a path forward with more frequency. Twitch is also doubling down on collaborative features, which complements this growth strategy.”
