Chrome users on Mac and Windows are majorly affected by multiple security issues that Google is fixing with new updates.
Google Chrome users have got a new warning from the Indian government this month and the threat is severe enough for the company to issue an urgent patch. The latest Chrome security warning dated November 8, comes via the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) with a high severity ranking, which affects millions of Chrome users on Windows and Mac devices in the country.
Chrome Security Risk: What Is The Issue
The detailed note from CERT-In highlights the issues faced by select versions of Chrome browser available on Mac, Windows, and even Linux. “Two use-after-free vulnerabilities have been reported in components “Serial” and “Family Experiences” of Google Chrome, which could be exploited by a remote attacker by persuading a victim to visit a specially crafted webpage,” says the security note from the agency.
These issues crop up quite often and Google is usually aware about the loopholes that can be exploited by bad actors to hack your systems. “Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code, obtain unauthorised access to sensitive information or perform Denial of Service (DoS) condition on the targeted system,” the note adds.
Chrome Security Risk: Who Is In Danger
The security risk faced by Chrome users affects the following versions:
– Google Chrome versions prior to 130.0.6723.116 for Linux
– Google Chrome versions prior to 130.0.6723.116/.117 for Windows and Mac
