Registered voters interested in the vacant District 2 seat on the Menifee City Council may submit an application through Jan. 7.
In a news release this week, the city said the council will hold a special meeting Jan. 15 to allow each eligible applicant to make a presentation at a public forum.
The council seeks to fill a seat vacated by Ricky Estrada, who won election as mayor on Nov. 5 and was sworn into office Dec. 17.
The council seeks to fill the remaining two years of Estrada’s unexpired term in District 2. The council seat will be on the ballot in November 2026.
Applications for the vacant seat are due by 5 p.m. Jan. 7. To be eligible for appointment, applicants must be at least 18 years old and a registered District 2 voter. A required statement of interest for each applicant may include the applicant’s background, qualifications and reasons for seeking appointment to the District 2 council seat.
Council district information is available online at cityofmenifee.us/maps. Statement of Interest forms may be submitted online at www.cityofmenifee.us/District2, downloaded from the City’s website at http://www.cityofmenifee.us/district2pdf, or picked up at City Hall, which is closed through Jan. 1.
The council has scheduled a special meeting for Jan. 15 to interview eligible applicants. The council may make an appointment at the meeting or at a later time.
