Microsoft rolls out latest Android 12 update for Surface Duo 2 after support ends

Microsoft releases latest Android 12 update for Surface Duo 2 dual-display smartphone

Microsoft has announced the release of the latest Android 12 update for Surface Duo 2.

Here’s What We Know

The concept of a dual-screen smartphone in the Surface Duo did not gain popularity due to numerous problems related to its usability, camera quality, and software.

The Surface Duo 2 received only one operating system update, from Android 11 to Android 12 (including 12L, which is optimised for large screens).

The 54MB update has been spotted by Reddit users, but it doesn’t make any significant changes. Microsoft has previously discontinued support for the original Surface Duo, and is now preparing to end support for all models in the line.

The company’s official website states that support for the Surface Duo 2 will end on 21 October 2024. This means that no new software updates are likely to be released.

Despite rumours of a new foldable device, Microsoft has not yet provided any official confirmation.
