Private enterprise must be ‘prosperous’ to employ more Australians


Australia cannot keep inflation under control and keep its high standard of living unless businesses “stay viable and sustainable”, says Nationals Senate leader Bridget McKenzie.

“Private enterprise runs the joint, and we need to make sure that they are able to be prosperous so that they can continue to employ Australians,” Ms McKenzie told Sky News Australia.

“Having wage increases without consequent productivity gains in workplaces and the economy more broadly, actually won’t mean we get the economic settings right to put downward pressure on inflation and grow the economy.”
