Review: Home Sheep Home – Movies Games and Tech

Home Sheep Home: Farmageddon Party Edition is a fun and challenging title that can be enjoyed alone or with others. What’s more, it has a mindless but zany multiplayer mode that is loaded with crazy action. Consequently, this game blends classic puzzling mechanics with a competitive up to 4-player gaming experience.

Developed by Mobile Pie and published by Greenlight Games, this is a wonderfully tricky puzzle title. Moreover, it has some tongue-in-cheek moments, some head-scratching problems to solve, and a beautiful hand-drawn aesthetic. Accordingly, it’ll test your grey matter while being easy on the eye.

Work together and get to the exit.

Home Sheep Home reminded me of Lost Vikings.

Lost Vikings was a game that got under my skin. Its basic mechanics and interesting teamwork ethos captured my attention. Subsequently, I was over the moon when I noted the similarities in Home Sheep Home. This incredible puzzling experience demands that each sheep use their strengths to solve each layer of the puzzle you face. By working together, the trio can traverse gaps, rivers, and other untold dangers.

You control Shaun the Sheep, Timmy, and Shirley as they undertake a dangerous journey. By exploring unusual locations, the trio will discover some odd and often mind-boggling problems to solve. However, with teamwork at its core, you’ll collect every sock, cake, and joystick as you go home.

It is time to complete puzzles whilst in space.

Fresh problems throughout.

Each protagonist has strengths that must be exploited if you wish to succeed. Shaun is a nimble creature that can leap large gaps and reach high platforms. Timmy, on the other hand, is so small that he can fit through tiny gaps. However, his compact size prevents him from pushing heavy weights. Thankfully, though, this is where Shirley steps in. This monstrous sheep can weigh down platforms or push large boulders.

Each of their skills is essential if you wish to proceed through each stage. Furthermore, you are required to use teamwork to overcome some basic problems. By forming a tower, the sheep can reach otherwise impossible-to-reach locations. Consequently, you’ll have to manoeuvre each hero correctly to activate switches or transporters or unlock doors.

In theory, the simplicity of each level should undermine the overall difficulty. Moreover, the familiar mechanics should also make the gameplay feel tiresome. However, this isn’t the case. Luckily, the developers rarely revisit previous stage designs. Consequently, though you’ll know what to do, you must piece together each clue as you’ll face fresh problems throughout.

Home Sheep Home looks fantastic.

I’m a sucker for hand-drawn graphics. Furthermore, I adore a cutesy art style that has a zany edge. Fortunately, Home Sheep Home comprises each of these elements in its wonderfully striking visuals. On top of this, each gaming world has a unique look that helps to keep the action fresh. Whether you are exploring the sights of London, trapesing through an alien spaceship, or escaping underground tunnels, it never gets boring. Alongside this, the adorable characters are pleasant to look at and the animation is incredibly smooth.

The audio is wholesome while enhancing the whacky artistry. The pleasant background music doesn’t overpower the action and is barely noticeable. However, when you take the time to listen to it, it works perfectly with the theme while adding a fun layer to the proceedings. On top of this, I enjoyed the random sound effects. This was apparent in the spaceship, but was equally obvious as you tried to leap from moving vehicles or when you climbed Big Ben.

Hit that ball and overcome those sheep.

Impressive controls.

As a solo player, you must control each of the sheep. Luckily, this was easy to execute thanks to the impressive controls. Subsequently, selecting each hero was a cinch and completing every action was straightforward. However, if you play this as a team, it is easier, still. Each player must choose a hero and navigate each level, and that is it. Accordingly, I loved the simplicity of the control system, as it can be enjoyed by gamers from every skill set.

The replay value and longevity impressed me. Each stage has an array of collectables to find. Moreover, you are timed and the quicker you complete the level, the better your score. As such, if you wish to complete Home Sheep Home, you are going to have to work fast and find every hidden item on every level. Alongside this, the amusing multiplayer action will test your resolve as you take on each of your friends. Unfortunately, this is restricted to local action only, and that was disappointing.

Home Sheep Home is a wholesome and cute, puzzling experience.

Home Sheep Home does a wonderful job of integrating both solo and cooperative action without watering down its core mechanics. Additionally, the excellent stage design and troublesome puzzles will test your grey matter and make you chuckle at the same time. It was hard not to fall for this charming title thanks to its wholesome audio and incredible visuals. Moreover, who doesn’t love Shaun the Sheep? Therefore, I adored this game and I recommend that you buy it here! Can you complete each puzzle and make it home? Work together, solve problems, and visit some absurd locations.
