Russell N. Cordahl, 88, of Park Rapids, MN passed away on December 14, 2024 at Heritage Cottages in Park Rapids.
Russell Neil Cordahl was born on April 28,1936 in Hatton, ND to Christ and Clara Cordahl. He grew up and was educated in Hatton. Russell served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956 at Camp Wolters, Texas. After the Army, Russell moved to Minneapolis, MN and worked at Stewart Lumber. Russell spent most of his working years as a Postal Carrier in Minneapolis until retiring in 1998. After retiring, Russell moved to Park Rapids. Russell was very involved with the American Legion and was for several years the Commander of Minneapolis Legion Post 440. He was an avid golfer and spent most of his retirement winters golfing in San Antonio, TX. When he lived in Minneapolis, Russell had season tickets to the North Stars and frequented Twins, Vikings and High School State Tournament games. For many years, Russell made annual trips to Kentucky where he and his brother Cliff would attend the Kentucky Derby. Russell enjoyed bowling league, mens baseball, casinos, cards, reading, walleye fishing and his pet cat. He daily read the newspaper from front to back. Russell had a friendly, good-natured personality and courageously dealt with stuttering and a severe hearing loss.
Russell is survived by his brothers Clifton and Ray and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant siblings Gerleen and Larry, and brothers Cecil and Dennis.
