For many, range anxiety is still a stumbling block to EV adoption, even though tech has come on leaps and bounds in recent years. Generally speaking, EVs have performance on tap, but its their range that lets them down—that was until one particular luxury EV sedan came along.
When EVs came to market over a decade ago, the earliest models couldn’t travel more than 90 miles without visiting the charging station. Recently that’s changed, and now there’s an EV capable of traveling more than 500 miles on a full charge.
This EV feels a little more mature than the rest. Despite being the first car from a completely new automaker, it stands out for its superior driving range on a single charge, not to mention its blistering performance. But don’t just take our word for it—read on to find out more.
In order to give you the most up-to-date and accurate information possible, the data used to compile this article was sourced from the Lucid Motors website and other authoritative sources, including Consumer Reports, Edmunds, J.D. Power, and Kelley Blue Book.

The German EV With the Longest Driving Range in 2025
This German EV leads 2025 with the longest driving range, combining luxury, performance, and efficiency for an unbeatable electric driving experience.
The Lucid Air Grand Touring Has The Longest Range Of Any American EV
Boasting an impressive EPA-estimated range of 512 miles, the Lucid Air Grand Touring is the American EV with the longest driving range to date. Impressive, to say the least, but this EV is far from a one-trick pony.
In addition to its 500-mile-plus range, the Lucid Air Grand Touring offers a thoughtful balance of digital-versus-physical controls, looks relatively futuristic, and feels premium. The starting price tag is a little on the steep side, but, as they say, you get what you pay for.
Pros
- Blistering acceleration
- Spacious cabin
- Excellent real-world range
Cons
- Fit and finish aren’t as good as other luxury EVs
- Electric motor whine
- Unintuitive controls
The Lucid Air Grand Touring Goes 512 Miles Without A Recharge
The Lucid Air Grand Touring has an EPA-estimated range of 512 miles primarily due to its large, high-capacity battery pack (117 kWh), which is designed to maximize energy density, allowing for a longer driving distance on a single charge. This, combined with advanced battery technology and efficient aerodynamics that optimize energy usage while driving, makes it one of the longest-range EVs currently on the market.
More often than enough, though, real-world driving is far from advertised and computer-modeled ranges. Not every EV can attain computer-generated predictions because of real-world outside forces, such as driver input and weather.
Real-World Testing Of The Lucid Air Grand Touring
Out of Spec Reviews tested the Air Grand Touring’s range by driving at a constant 70 mph on the highway until the luxury sedan’s battery ran dry. Typically, such high-speed driving leads to reduced range compared to the advertised figures, as the official tests are run at a far lower average speed, even when a number of stops are involved.
And the results were surprising, with the EV coming pretty close to its promised range. It achieved an impressive 510.4 miles at a steady 70 mph before power was cut. Even then, the EV continued to coast for another 13.3 miles, ultimately reaching a total of 523.7 miles before finally coming to a halt.

Lucid may be a new brand, but it hasn’t wasted any time establishing itself as a leader in the luxury EV space. Not only has the California startup produced an EV with an impressive range, but it’s probably one of the fastest cars that a normal person, anywhere, ever, will drive in their lifetime.

The base model, called the Pure, has 430 horsepower, which is sent to the rear wheels by a single electric motor, achieving a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds. Slotting above the Pure is the Touring, which gets all-wheel drive, 620 horsepower, and an estimated 406 miles of range.
The Pure and Touring are significantly cheaper than their more powerful brethren, the Grand Touring, starting at $69,900 and $78,900, respectively. But we’ve saved the best for last—the Sapphire.
The Sapphire is the top model in the range and has all-wheel drive, too, but it gets an eye-watering 1,234 horsepower courtesy of three electric motors. This is good for a mind-blowing 0-60 mph time of 1.89 seconds and an estimated range of 427 miles. The world’s second-fastest production vehicle comes with a whopping $249,000 price tag, but you can’t put a price on happiness, right?
